Social Inclusion Through Gamification in education
Sige
is an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project coordinated by ELA.
The project aims to explore the educational potential of gamification and game-based learning as innovative tools to promote active participation, engagement, and inclusion in both education and society. The main objective is to support the social inclusion of adults with low skills and those with a migrant background or belonging to ethnic minorities, contributing to the development and enhancement of a flexible and blended learning offer.
The project also aims to strengthen the skills of adult educators in implementing a game-based and gamification-oriented teaching approach. In this way, they will be able to engage with diverse groups of learners and enhance the quality of their teaching practices.

Project Outcomes
To achieve the main objective of the project, the partnership will create and develop two Intellectual Outputs specifically designed for the target group and for adult educators working with adults with low skills and with a migrant background or belonging to ethnic minorities:
Training Course for Adults: “Upskill through Gamification”
It is a blended course designed to upskill and enhance the key competences of the target group by offering them a unique and comprehensive gamified training opportunity, promoting their integration and inclusion both in society and in the labor market. The course will be implemented locally in each partner country.

“SIGE Handbook for Adult Educators”
A manual available to educational staff working with the above-mentioned target group, designed to support the integration and use of game-based elements and apps within their lessons. The manual will include key principles, objectives, and goals of gamification, and will feature all lessons learned and best practices from the initial editions of the “Upskill through Gamification” course.

Multiplier Events
On September 27th, the Multiplier Events of the project took place in Italy to spread the results and promote the importance of gamification in education. The feedback was positive, and adult educators and involved stakeholders highly appreciated the project’s outcomes.

Final Meeting in Poland
On September 6th and 7th, we met in Wroclaw (Poland), hosted by FUNDACJA MODE, for the final TPM of this project. The meeting was an opportunity to gather all the partners for the last TPM and discuss the results and sustainability of the project. We look forward to new opportunities for collaboration.

Transnational Project Meeting in Italy
On August 31st and September 1st, we had the pleasure of hosting the second Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) of the SIGE project in Bologna! During these two productive days, we had the opportunity to work together to review and finalize the objectives and learning outcomes of the module that will be part of the adult training course “Upskill through Gamification”.

Transnational Project Meeting in Spain
On March 22nd and 23rd, all the partners of the SIGE Project gathered in Miranda de Ebro (Spain), hosted by CFIE Miranda. The meeting was an opportunity for networking and finalizing the intellectual outputs.
Highlights of the meeting included:
– Mid-term monitoring
– Finalization of the curriculum and inventory
– Planning of the next steps.

Training with Associated Partners
In February, Erasmus Learning Academy trained educators from its local Italian partner (Fomal) to explore the power of gamification applied to soft skills related to the labor market.
We are grateful for the enthusiasm shown by the educators for this gamified methodology and for the results developed by the project. We are excited to see the potential of gamification in enhancing soft skills!

Research Phases
The project began with activities such as bibliographic and field research to better understand the national context and examine the educational needs and preferences of the target group. All partners administered a questionnaire to adults with low skills and conducted interviews with adult educators who will be involved in the next phases of the project.

Kick-off meeting
The kick-off meeting of the SIGE project took place online on January 27th and 28th. During the meeting, partners discussed strategies for more effective project management, dissemination, and monitoring, and began planning the activities to be carried out in the following months.
